Who Is Responsible for Your Data

HaMeshek is run by Dor Zairi, a sole proprietor in British Columbia, Canada, who is responsible for the personal information described here. We handle it under Canadian privacy law, including British Columbia's Personal Information Protection Act (PIPA). The data is stored on a server in Israel, with a backup copy kept by Supabase's cloud service in Germany (EU), so Israel's Privacy Protection Law applies to it as well. If the law where you live gives you further rights, those apply too.

    What We Collect

When you create an account or use HaMeshek, we collect:

    • Account information: your display name, email address, and the profile details you choose to share
    • Sign-in data: from Discord, Steam or itch.io when you sign in with them, or the email address you sign in with
    • What you create: games, posts, articles, jobs, community pages and comments
    • Usage data: pages visited and features used, through Google Analytics, and where pages are clicked and scrolled, through Microsoft Clarity (see Cookies below)
    • From our Discord servers: your server name and avatar, and the introduction you post, which becomes a public profile card on the site
    • Event attendance: when you join an online event through Discord voice or Zoom, that you attended and for how long, so organisers know who came
    • Game jam registrations: your answers, which can include dietary or access needs and, for clinicians, profession and specialty. Only the jam's organisers see them

    How We Use Your Data

We use the information we collect to:

    • Provide and improve the HaMeshek platform and its features
    • Display your public profile, games, and contributions to the community
    • Send important updates about your account, applications, or community activity

    Your Profile Is Public

Profiles are public by default, so studios and other developers can find you. You can make yours private at any time under Profile visibility on your profile page. A card made from a Discord introduction can be taken off the site by running /forget-me in the Discord server.

    Newsletter

Creating an account subscribes you to the HaMeshek community newsletter: community events, jobs and news from the Jewish game development community. Accounts created automatically from Discord are not subscribed until their owner signs in. Every issue carries an unsubscribe link, and unsubscribing has no effect on your account or on the service emails above.

    Cookies & Local Storage

HaMeshek uses cookies and local storage to keep you signed in and to remember your preferences, such as language and theme. We use Google Analytics to count visits and see which pages are used, with Google Signals and ad personalisation switched off. We use Microsoft Clarity to see how pages are used: where people click and scroll, and recordings of visits with everything typed into a form hidden. Pages reached through a private link, such as an advisor's thread, are never recorded. Visitors in the EU, the EEA, the UK and Switzerland are asked first, and analytics does not start without a yes. Our fonts are served from our own site. YouTube videos are embedded without tracking cookies until you press play, and maps and other embeds load from their providers only on the pages that show them. We do not use advertising cookies.

    Services We Use

These services run parts of the site, and each receives only what its part needs: Supabase (database and sign-in, on our server in Israel with a backup in Germany), Vercel (web hosting, USA), Cloudflare (network and security, USA), Google Analytics (visit statistics, USA), Microsoft Clarity (heatmaps and visit recordings, USA), SMTP2GO (sign-in and service email), Listmonk, run by us (the newsletter and game jam email), Discord (community features and notifications), Zoom (online events), Hi.Events, run by us (event registration and tickets), GlitchTip, run by us (error reports, which carry your account id but not your email), and OpenStreetMap (place search when you set a location). If you connect Google Calendar to import events, Google shares that calendar with us for the import. When you sign in through Discord, Steam or itch.io, those platforms share limited profile information with us under their own privacy policies. A hate-incident report reaches the Anti-Defamation League only when the person reporting chose to forward it. Some of these providers are outside Canada and Israel, so your data may be processed in the USA or the EU. We do not sell your data.

    How Long We Keep It

We keep your account data while your account exists. When you delete your account, we keep a record of the deletion (your email, your Discord id and a copy of the profile) for 90 days so a mistake can be undone, and then delete it. Attendance records, raw Discord voice activity and relay messages are deleted 90 days after the event or message. Records of removal requests and of pages withdrawn at their owner's request are kept, because they are the evidence of what was done.

    Your Rights

You can see, edit or delete your profile and content at any time from your profile page, where you can also download everything we hold about you as one file and delete your account. Deleting it removes your sign-in, your profile, your newsletter subscription and your attendance records; community content you added stays on the site without your name. For anything you cannot do yourself, email [email protected] and we will answer within 30 days. If you are unhappy with how we handle your data, you can complain to the privacy regulator where you live: in British Columbia the Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner, in Israel the Privacy Protection Authority, and in the EU your national data protection authority.

    Age

HaMeshek is for people aged 16 and over. If you are younger, do not create an account.
